7. The Intervention Planning

7.2. The Assessment of Vascular Systems

! Please note:

Until now it is not possible to fade in all existing structures of the list in color (2) in all available (1) datasets. In the venous dataset, the liver capsule, the tumor and the veins can be superimposed. In the arterial dataset, however, only the arteries are superimposed. This is due to the refurbishment of the data. The extraction of the structures only takes place in one of the datasets and cannot be transferred to other datasets at the moment.

  1. In most of the cases, two CT images exist for each patient. One image displays the venous blood vessels ("venous__ROI") and the other one makes the arterial blood vessels visible ("arterial__ROI"). Within the list you may switch (1) between the datasets. This switch may take some time.
  2. At first, it is helpful to fade in the vessels that you like to assess as colored overlaps. Therefore, they have to be selected from the (2) structure list. For the arteries, the arterial dataset ("arterial__ROI") must be chosen.
  3. It is possible to switch all colored overlays of the activated structures on and off simultaneously. Therefore, place or remove the checkmark (3).
  4. Please select the appropriate characteristics for the individual vessels (4). The assessment of the vascular anatomy is subdivided into three steps. First of all, the assessment of the arteries is carried out, afterwards the assessment of the liver veins and portal veins and at least the assessment of the bile ducts.
  5. You can navigate through the program with the buttons "<< previous help" (5) and "next >>" (6) or skip the evaluation (7). If you skip (7) or if you push the button "next >>" (6) in the last step of the anatomy, you get to the intervention planning.
