7. The Intervention Planning

 

7.1. General description of the user surface

 

  1. The layer image data are situated on the left side (1). The scroll bar right beneath the image data enables you to browse through the slice data. You can also insert a layer number in the field over the controller to jump to this slice.
  2. For interaction with the original data you have got the following options which are presented (2) in the following area:
    • Scrolling through the slices: with the mouse wheel, fast slicing is carried out by pushing the middle mouse button and moving the mouse vertically
    • Windowing: Changing of width through a pressed right mouse button with simultaneous horizontal movement of the mouse, changing of the center by pushing the right mouse button and moving the mouse vertically
  3. In most of the cases, two CT images exist for each patient. One image displays the venous bloos vessels ("venous__ROI") and the other one makes the arterial blood vessels visible ("arterial__ROI"). Within the list you may switch (3) between the datasets. This switch may take some time. Attention: In the venous dataset, the liver capsule, the tumor and the veins can be superimposed. In the arterial dataset, however, only the arteries are superimposed. This is due to the refurbishment of the data. The extraction of the structures only takes place at one of the datasets and cannot be transferred to other datasets at the moment.
  4. At any time you have got the possibility to replace the layer image data with the 3D visualization of the liver, vessels and tumors and vice versa (4).
  5. The control elements are situated on the right side (5) and are described in the following:

  1. Two tabs are existing (1): "Planning Steps" comprises all control elements for the planning and "Second Viewer" comprises a second window for the presentation of the data. At the beginning of the planning, the 3D data are shown. The content of the small view can be changed against the larger view at any time through the buttons "Swap 2D/3D Viewer".
  2. In this area, the progress of the planning (2) is displayed. The planning comprises five partial steps. In the first three steps, the vascular anatomy shall be evaluated. Afterwards, the definition of the virtual resection in the layers is carried out. At the end, the planning is presentend in a 3D model (the procedure is described successively).
  3. This list (3) comprises the structures relevant for the planning. The list is visible in each step of the planning. Here you can select the structures that shall be displayed in a 2D and 3D view.
  4. It is possible to switch all colored overlays of the activated structures on and off simultaneously. Therefore, place or remove the checkmark (4).
  5. The content of this area (5) changes depending on how far you are with your planning. It comprises options for the assessment of anomalies and furthermore the necessary control elements to carry out the intervention.
