LiverSurgeryTrainer 1.0 - Installation and Help

1. Introduction

In the following, the installation and evaluation of the LiverSurgeryTrainer is described. The assistance for the operation of the LiverSurgeryTrainer can be found here... (or on the DVD in the subdirectory help/manual/General.html).
We developed test training scenarios that shall guide you through the training of an oncological intervention or a liver living donor and that shall facilitate the test and evaluation of the LiverSurgeryTrainer. The scenario instructions are here... (or on the DVD in the subdirectory help/scenario/index.html).

2. Installation

There are two possibilities to use the LiverSurgeryTrainer. You can install the program on your computer (recommended) or copy the DVD content to your computer and start the LiverSurgeryTrainer from there if you do not possess any installation rights for the computer on which you like to use the LiverSurgeryTrainer.

2.1. Installation on the hard disk (recommended)

Please start the file setup.exe on the DVD to install the LiverSurgeryTrainer on the hard disk.
Now your are guided through an installation process where all necessary data are copied to your computer and a shortcut with the LiverSurgeryTrainer is installed on the desktop and in the start menu.

However, the individual cases and the data belonging to are furthermore loaded from the DVD due to the enormous required space.
Thus, the DVD must remain inserted during the use of the LiverSurgeryTrainer!

2.2. Copy the DVD to the harddisk

If you do not possess any installation rights for the computer where you use the LiverSurgeryTrainer, you can copy the content of the DVD (the folders cases and standAlone) to any place on the hard disk of the computer. Therefore, approx. 1.6 GB memory are required. Now start the LiverSurgeryTrainer by proceeding the file runLST.bat in the directory standAlone .

3. Test training

Start the LiverSurgeryTrainer and select a scenario which guides you through the training of an oncological intervention of a liver living donor. The scenario instructions are available here... (or on the DVD in the subdirectory help/scenario/index.html). The general assistance for the LiverSurgeryTrainer can be found here... (or on the DVD in the subdirectory help/manual/General.html).

4. Occurrence of faults

This version is a beta version of the LiverSurgeryTrainer and may obtain some faults. Please inform us if you find any faults when using the LiverSurgeryTrainer. Therefore, you can use the bug report form on our websites or send an e-mail to: info@liversurgerytrainer.de.

5. Evaluation

After having tested the LiverSurgeryTrainer, please take some time (10-15 minutes) to answer the questions for an evaluation of the LiverSurgeryTrainer. You find the questions on this website... If you do not have Internet access to answer the questionnaire, you can use the questionnaire added to the documents that we have sent you by mail.
